Coding weekly government statements

French weekly government statements from 1974 to 2006 were selected to study week-to-week government issue attention. The French council of ministers (Conseil des ministres) is a mandatory governmental meeting held on weekly basis (except during governmental holidays), i.e. from 48 to 50 times a year. It includes the President, the Prime Minister, all ministers, and some ministres délégués or state secretaries to discuss current issues and bill proposals. A statement is published immediately after the meeting. It includes five types of items:

-          government bill proposals;

-          governmental decrees;

-          ordinances (another type of decree);

-          communications;

-          Individual measures/appointments.
